As in book one of the trilogy – ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Train to London’ – ‘A Funny Thing Happened on the Train to the Midlands’ is another feast of saucy, shocking and humorous anecdotes mixed with creative colour railway photography and history of the stations and routes mentioned within the book’s pages. Originally scheduled for publication in late 2023, the shock HS2 news, coupled with announcements of Midland Metro extensions and inside information about safety incidents caused by contingency (normally office based) staff brought in during strikes, has caused publication to be pushed back until mid 2024. This is because large swathes are having to be rewritten and redesigned.
